Macbook Pro Won T Recognize Ssd

I bought a OWC Aura Pro X SSD / 480 GB [linked product missing or disabled: IF123-123-1] to upgrade my early 2014 13” MacBook Air.

When I boot up by holding command-R when I press start and a bit thereafter till message appears. I then go into Disk Utility but it doesn’t see the drive (and of course if I go to ‘restore from time machine’ it doesn’t find the disc to restore to either). I’m running OS X 10.13.4. I’m quite sure it’s seated properly because it’s seated identically to the old one, and each time I put back the old one it works fine (also it’s in far enough to put back the screw holding it down).

I first tried to install it running OS X 10.10.x, when it wasn’t recognized I realized I needed 10.13 so I upgraded, and now trying to install it again, but it’s still not found. Also it has a blue putty-looking square above a metal pad that I guess is to radiate heat, I left the putty square there, don’t know if I was supposed to but I don’t imagine that could cause any problem?

The card has a different layout than the one in the picture at the link above. Perhaps that’s because it’s 480 GB, perhaps the picture is for 240 GB?

Does anyone have any idea what to do next?

Thanks.

Is this a good question?

Just got my camera this morning and before I left to go to work I formatted the SSD to exfat on my desktop PC, shot a short RAW clip, and played around with it on my PC for a while before heading to the station.
For my work, I use a brand new Macbook Pro that I got about 3 months ago. There's nothing wrong with it.

Step 1: Boot your Mac to macOS Recovery mode. Step 2: Select Disk Utility from the macOS Utilities menu. Step 3: Select the unmountable MacBook Pro SSD from the side bar. Step 4: Click Erase from the top. Step 5: Setup the required information (i.e. Name, Scheme, Format, etc.) to reformat the disk. Steps are as follows: Step 1: Download and install the free trial version of Stellar Data Recovery Professional for Mac. Step 2: Connect the unrecognized external SSD. Launch the downloaded software. Step 3: On the Select What To Recover screen, select the required file types, then click Next.

However, when I plug my SSD into the USB 3.0 port on my Macbook it does not show up at all. Not even in Disc Utility. I am not sure why it wouldn't recognize it all. The SSD is a SanDisk Extreme 240gb.
Just wondering,... is there ever going to be a way to read the contents off the SSD while it's in the camera through a USB or Thunderbolt? That would be nice.
