I have an Imac (that runs snow leopard). I got a new macbook air and wanted to use migration assistant to set up some of my applications. The utility only allows me to select the entire applications folder.
1. Is there a way to transfer one application at a time? Or just a specific application rather than all?
2. Also, is there a way to transfer a single document or folder using migration assistant?
3. Lastly, since the macbook air has neither a firewire or ethernet port, is it possible to do the transfer via USB cable? Otherwise, wireless is the only option--I'm just afraid of dropouts and interruptions.

I had the same problem on Friday. I wanted to migrate (by Apple the migration assistant app) all my data (settings, apps, users) with about 420GB from my old MacBook pro 15' (2013) to a new MacBook Pro i9 over a Thunderbolt 2-3 connection. I put my old MacBook pro in the Thunderbolt target disk mode and started the migration. Apple has been moving towards 64-bit only applications on macOS for a number of releases. Last June, Apple started requiring Apps on the macOS App Store to be 64-bit only and macOS 10.13.4 and above prompt when launching 32-bit applications.
